The last week of placement can be hectic. Not only do you need to complete your role as
educator but you also need to prepare for resuming some of your work load that
you have passed onto your student(s)!
Here is a little tip that could help you a long way:
Have your student treat the end of placement how you
would wrap things up prior to going on holidays.
would wrap things up prior to going on holidays.
Have the
student write notes on each client they were involved with. This might include:
- outlining what has been done,
- describing what is outstanding that is being passed back to you,
- forwarding any correspondence with team members on the matter,
- confirming they have made the client/caregivers aware and what their response was.
The result:
- You will have a handy summary
- The student will have “real world” practice of handing over a caseload
I think that's what we call a 'win-win'.
